Waterjet cutting

Waterjet cutting is a cold cutting process. A high-pressure waterjet is accelerated with up to 6000 bar to a speed of up to 900 m/s, thus separating a wide variety of materials. Waterjet cutting is highly efficient and gentle at the same time. Low process forces and thermal loads prevent bending or melting. We cut the most filigree contours from practically all materials.

Pure water and abrasive waterjet cutting

In pure water blasting, only the jet energy of the water is used. A fine water jet of up to approx. 0.08 mm diameter hits the material to be cut with up to three times the speed of sound. This process is particularly suitable for soft materials.

With abrasive waterjet cutting, the cutting performance and cutting quality of the water are increased by an abrasive cutting agent. This cuts harder materials that cannot be separated with a pure water jet. The water serves as an accelerating element for the abrasive particles, which remove the material to be cut at an impact speed of approx. 500 to 700 metres per second.

Advantages

  • Almost all materials can be machined

  • Large material thicknesses possible

  • Optimal utilisation of the raw material due to small cutting gap

  • No temperature load on the workpiece

  • Environmentally friendly, as no curing, vapours or toxic gases are produced

  • Rapid and cost-effective prototype construction

  • No thermal stresses, no warping of the material

  • Unrivalled fast and flexible implementation of customer orders due to our large machine park
